Loneliness

On those nights, dark and deep,
When my heart aches of loneliness,
Sleep beckons as I weep,
In dreams, at peace, my heart’s solace.

Sleep fast for morning nears,
Mercy bound on the swiftest wings.
Awaken, know no tears,
Dawn’s light awash with lasting hope.

Sunlight streaks through the sky,
Enters in my open window.
Awakened with deep sigh,
Dried tears find a smile in the sun.

The new day shines serene,
No thoughts of lonely aching hearts.
Challenges not extreme,
Until, once again, the night falls …

And loneliness sets in …

Listen to the palms…

  1. Loneliness is such a difficult emotion to be with; we want nothing more than to run from it, as far away as we can. Thank goodness, your loneliness hasn’t chased your Muse away… she’s still there with you. 🙂

  2. Thank goodness for daylight, for tomorrow, and for memory … for it gets me through another night knowing I have the sunlight to look forward to.
