Travel Theme: Beaches

Now this is a travel theme I can do with my eyes closed.  Here, in the Dominican Republic we have some of the best beaches in the world.  Depending on where you are on the island, beaches range from pure white sand and smooth, to a little rocky, to dark sand.  The island of Hispaniola is bordered to the west and south by the Caribbean Sea, and to the east and north by the Atlantic Ocean.  Oceanic currents batter the shores with different levels of intensity, so here on this island you can find something to suit all desires.  My preferences for sand are Bavaro for it’s fine pure white sand, and Saona Island for the sand’s texture.  Saona … amazing!  My preference for the water, is the Caribbean side, gentler waves, but no matter where you go, always watch for your safety, the riptides are deadly!

A picture says a thousand words, so … here’s a few thousand words!  Enjoy …

    • Thank you so much. I wish I wasn’t afraid to venture out with my good camera here. Always being solo, I don’t for one second doubt that I’ld be mugged for it.

Yes that was for a wedding. Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, in Punta Cana. Stunning hotel and spectacular beach. Though very American. Not much in this hotel to reflect the Dominican Republic other than the staff. No Dominican culture there at all.

  1. Hey, yesterday I thought about you and this post when I went shopping 🙂 I saw a shirt which said: “One can not be mean when looking at palms”!
